Project description
Sorted OTT aims to deliver unbiased, fact-based news to users, utilizing AI technology to ensure accuracy and relevance. Our platform aims to make news consumption effortless, presenting information in a user-friendly format.
Timeline
From explorations to final designs in 12 weeks while working with multiple device screens for the product ranging from mobile (360p) to Desktop (1800p+) at the same time.
Background
This project was part of ZEE's Innovation Charter. This project began in 2023, and when I joined, there were changes in requirements from PMs and stakeholders regarding experience and visuals. I had been assigned to design the main navigation pages, such as Home, Live, and AI Chat, as well as some other features. I was in charge of both Android, iOS, tablets, and PWA. I've also designed for CTV.
Process
This project was both research-based and reiterative. I used a non-linear design thinking method, starting with research, followed by defining, designing, and making multiple iterations based on feedback from review sessions with experts.
Research & Planning
Conducted market research to identify existing scheduling challenges and user preferences. Defined target audience segments and outlined key features based on user needs and market trends.
Design & Prototyping
Worked with designers to create intuitive user interfaces and interactive prototypes. Iteratively refined designs based on user feedback to enhance usability and visual appeal. Explored Generative interfaces for AI feature.
Review with Experts
The designs are assessed by Senior designers, Lead designers, and the Head of design to discover any additional improvements and flows in current designs.
Iteration
Reiterations are done after reviews based on input and discussed with PMs and Stakeholders after design team approval.
User Tesing
Internal user testing was conducted to identify usability issues and ensure the application's overall usability. Bugs and minor issues were found and the designs were fixed accordingly.

The resulting AI-powered scheduling app offers a seamless user experience, providing users a comprehensive and diverse news experience, enhancing user engagement and understanding in today's media landscape…

A personalized home page is offered with a new generation bento grid layout and user experience for more intuitive news consumption for each headline that is essential to users. Multiple features, including as sorted daily, live news, opinions, and so on, are included, as well as essential weather and stock information.

Users can customize and access news channels according to their preferences. They can view the channel guide and enjoy unlimited access to multiple news channels.
Key Learnings
Here are the skills and insights I gained from the project.
Design System
In this project, we developed a new design system instead of using the existing Zee design system. I researched and studied the fundamentals of design systems and built it in Figma to ensure an efficient workflow.
Responsive design practice
Recognized the importance of responsive design for various devices and screen sizes. Learned the fundamentals and practiced responsive design in Figma.
Agile Workflow & Cross-Functional Team Collaboration
The project followed an agile workflow with tight deadlines. Collaborating with a large team of developers, PMs, QC specialists, stakeholders and other designers was a valuable experience.
